DM Certified as US CBP ACE E-Manifest Provider
Digital Movers Certified as a Hosted EDI E-Manifest Service Provider by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) - Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for the filing of EDI Electronic Manifests.
Mashpee, MA (PRWEB) January 6, 2009 - Digital Movers (www.dmovers.com) announced today that the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) (www.cbp.gov) has certified the company as a Hosted EDI E-Manifest Solution provider as part of its Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for the filing of EDI Electronic Manifests. ACE is the commercial trade processing system being developed by CBP to facilitate legitimate trade and strengthen border security.
Automated Commercial Environment electronic truck manifest capabilities are currently available at all 99 U.S. land border ports of entry. ACE is the new commercial trade processing system developed by CBP to facilitate trade and strengthen national security. E-manifests provide CBP with cargo information, such as crew, conveyance, equipment as applicable, and shipment details, so they can begin processing the truck before it arrives at the gate. Truck carriers are required to submit e-manifests to CBP one hour prior to arrival at a U.S. land border port of entry, or half an hour if the carrier is a participant in the Free and Secure Trade program.
Digital Movers can assist Shippers in filing E-manifests through our CBP-certified Electronic Data Interchange Portal currently capable of sending and receiving EDI X12 and EDIFACT message sets.
Receiving manifest information early allows CBP and other border security agencies to pre-screen the manifest prior to the truck's arrival at the port of entry. Advance access to manifest information enables CBP to pre-screen trucks and shipments, while dedicating more time to inspecting high risk cargo without delaying the border crossings of legitimate carriers.
For the Carrier, there are numerous E-manifest Benefits. On average, e-manifests are processed 33 percent faster than paper manifests. Carriers are able to generate a wide variety of reports to evaluate and identify compliance issues and risks. Truck carriers can record and track account details related to drivers, trucks, (conveyances), equipment, shippers and consignees via ACE. This eliminates the need to repetitively send this data resulting in reduced errors during submission.
"Getting certified by the US Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment is the next step for Digital Movers to link our customers via ACE E-manifest (EDI) services to both US and Canadian Customs agencies" said Ken Konikowski, president, Digital Movers. "Digital Movers is proud to offer E-Manifest solutions for all North American Trade." Additionally, ACE is creating rail and sea manifest capabilities in order to set the stage for multi-modal processing that will replace three existing systems and provide a single, automated cargo control and release system across all modes of transportation. ACE truck processing capabilities are currently operational at the nation's 99 land border ports.
