Inside Insight

By now you know 'Insight' is your portal into the Digital Movers Host*EDI  and Standby*EDI services providing enhanced visibility into your Trading Partner Community. But did you know there is more information on 'Insight' than, "What Purchase Orders did I receive today?" or "Was my ASN successfully transmitted?" After reviewing Today's Activity, try clicking on Customer Reporting Service. There you will find a variety of reports including a 'Summarized Transactions by Partner for a Date'. If you have an idea for a new report not listed, click on ‘Help!’ and ‘Contact Us’ to submit your suggestion.

New!   Trading Partner News has been added to InsightHost*EDI and Standby*EDI customers with an Insight account can now manage relevant Trading Partner news right from their Digital Dashboard.  We aggregate news from a variety of sources. Click for more information

President’s Corner

Well another year has come and gone and, as usual, the death of EDI has been “greatly exaggerated”. In fact we’ve seen continued growth in the use of the Standards. Not only are companies trading more routine EDI transactions, they are also adding new document types to the mix. Currently, it is thought that over 20% of all US companies make use of EDI. Once a company acquires the capability, making maximum use of it only make sense. Each link in the supply chain benefits and, if you’re a supplier or distributor, it can help you have, and keep, happy customers. Although XML has gained traction inside the infrastructure, outside the walls EDI is still king. Here’s to 25 years of faithful service, and to the next 25 for good ol’ EDI.

In this issue we’re previewing a new product and a new Alliance Partner. Integral Group has partnered with Digital Movers to Web-enable EDI for our customers that use a browser as their application. Having personally used it, it is a very ‘slick’ product and we’re pleased to have them join our ever growing family. If you have Trading Partners that are not EDI capable, this is an excellent and inexpensive way for them to participate. Give our sales department a call and they can get you or your Partner a demo.

Recently, we had another addition to our staff. Rocky Caponigro joins us as Senior Sales Associate. Rocky has been in IT Operations and Sales for the past 35 years. He’s a seasoned veteran (and has the gray hairs to prove it) and we’re fortunate to have him join the team. When you talk to him, please join us in welcoming him aboard.

In January we also had an additional reason to celebrate; we just processed our eleven millionth transaction!! We want to extend a very large ‘Thank you’ to our loyal customers, many of whom have been with us for many years. We’ll continue to earn your business every day and provide you with the best in E-Commerce services and support.

As always, feel free to email me your comments or thoughts at kkonikowski@dmovers.com. Thank you.

Looking Ahead

More and more retailers are sending the Credit and Debit Adjustments transactions to their suppliers.  This EDI 812 document identifies the details and amounts covering exceptions, adjustments, credits and debits for goods and services.

The Digital Movers Business Intelligence database currently has over fifty different types of adjustment categories that the retailers are sending.  The most common are…

  1. Defective,
  2. Authorized Return,
  3. Quantity Contested,
  4. Item not Received, and
  5. No Open Item on File.

Digital Movers has added a feature to Insight  that will allow you to easily view your adjustments online.  After signing onto Insight, click on Customer Reporting Service, and in the pull-down menu, select Summarized Adjustments by Partner.  At this point you can enter a date from when you would like to view your adjustments.

Doing this on the 1st of the month, for the previous month, will help you determine and potential correct any of these issues going forward.  Being proactive and properly taking care of these issues will help your bottom line significantly.

At Digital Movers, we trade Adjustment transactions with several Trading Partners via EDI. If you would like to learn more or inquire on whom else you can receive Adjustment transactions from electronically, please contact EC Support.
